Stick snap-back
Checks that a released stick returns to the centre quickly and without overshooting.
What it measures
How long each stick takes to return to the centre after you let it go from full deflection, and how far it swings past the centre on the way. Times are measured to about 4 ms.
How to run it
Pull each stick all the way to one side and let go, at least three times each.
What the result means
- Pass
Both sticks snap back to the centre quickly and cleanly.
- Warn
A stick returns slowly or swings past the centre. Aiming may feel loose.
- Fail
A stick takes far too long to settle, or swings well past the centre.
- Skipped
A stick was released fewer than three times. Pull it all the way out and let go three times.
