BenchDevice makes free tools that check your hardware in the browser. This policy covers benchdevice.com and PadProof, the controller tester at benchdevice.com/padproof. BenchDevice is run by CodeEnzyme PVT Limited, Pakistan. Questions about your data: privacy@codeenzyme.com.
The short version
- Your controller input stays on your device. PadProof reads it in your browser and never sends it anywhere.
- We set no cookies, run no analytics and load no tracking or advertising scripts.
- Test reports are kept in your browser only, and you can delete them at any time.
Controller input
PadProof reads your controller through your browser's Gamepad API: buttons, sticks and triggers, and the name and identifiers your browser reports for the controller (for example its vendor and product numbers). It does this only while the page is open. The tests run entirely in your browser. Nothing you press is sent to us or to anyone else.
If you choose "Read battery", PadProof asks your browser for access to the controller (WebHID) and reads its battery level and how it's connected, once. It keeps nothing and sends nothing.
When you test rumble, PadProof asks your browser to make the controller vibrate. Your answer to "Did you feel both?" is part of the test result and stays on your device like every other result.
Reports on your device
When you finish a test run, PadProof keeps its report in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) so you can reopen it under Recent runs. It keeps the 20 most recent reports. A report holds the controller's reported name and identifiers, each test's result and measurements, the date, and a random report ID. It never holds the raw recording of your input.
While the tab is open, the results of your last run and the name of the controller you tested are also kept in that tab's own temporary storage, so the results page can show them. Closing the tab removes them.
"Delete all local data" in Recent runs removes every stored report. Clearing your browser's site data for benchdevice.com does the same. "Export JSON" saves a report as a file on your device; we never see it.
Sharing a report
Sharing a report is not available yet. When it is, a report will leave your device only when you choose "Share report", and this policy will say what is stored, where, and for how long before the feature goes live.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts benchdevice.com. We don't collect or keep logs of individual visits. Our hosting provider processes requests only to serve the site. Cloudflare's own privacy policy describes how it handles this data.
Advertising
There are no ads today. The site carries a Google AdSense verification tag (a line in each page's head and the file benchdevice.com/ads.txt). Neither loads anything from Google or sends Google any data. If ads are added, this policy will be updated first to say which provider, which cookies, and how you can choose, before any ad loads.
Children
The tools are for anyone who wants to check a device, and they collect no personal data from anyone, children included.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you: controller input and reports stay in your browser, and you control them there. If you believe we hold data about you, or want to ask about this policy, write to privacy@codeenzyme.com.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Changes that affect your data, such as sharing reports or ads, are published here before they take effect.
